Core Enzymes is a formula comprised of a proprietary blend of digestive enzymes along with betaine hydrochloride (HCl) to support the optimal digestion of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. This product contains the special protease dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP IV), which aids in the breakdown of the peptides gluteomorphin (from gluten), casomorphin (from casein), and soymorphin (from soy). Core Enzymes also includes the enzyme lactase, which helps break down the dairy sugar lactose. The use of Core Enzymes with meals may be helpful for patients who experience gas and bloating after eating, occasional constipation, or a feeling of fullness after eating only a small quantity of food.

If the digestive function is compromised, an individual cannot fully benefit from the nutrients in the diet, no matter the quality of the foods. Stress, aging, digestive disorders, medications, and other conditions may impede digestion by impacting the secretion of stomach acid, pancreatic enzymes, or bile. Betaine hydrochloride (HCl)

Excellent source of hydrochloric acid, also known as stomach acid. Betaine HCl helps to support proper stomach acidity, as adequate HCl is necessary to begin the breakdown of proteins and to trigger the secretion of enzymes that help digest fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. It is also necessary for the absorption of iron, vitamins B6, B9, and B12, calcium, and some medications. It also protects against bacteria and other microorganisms by destroying harmful pathogens to support a balanced microbiome.

Proprietary blend of digestive enzymes

The pancreas produces enzymes that are required for digestion and absorption of food. Enzymes secreted by the pancreas include lipases, proteases, and amylases, which aid in the breakdown of fats, proteins, and starches, respectively. This blend includes pepsin and proteases to break down protein and amylases, respectively, and glucoamylase to break down carbohydrates, lactase to digest lactose, and lipase to digest fats and fat-soluble vitamins.

Ox bile extract

Provides bile acids, which are key to the digestion of fat and fat-soluble vitamins.
