A GLP-1 is a tool, not a plan

Semaglutide and tirzepatide have changed the conversation about weight loss, and for good reason. For many people they work.

But the questions we hear most come after the prescription. What happens when I stop? Why have I stalled? Why do I feel weaker than before? Those questions have answers, and the answers are rarely about the medication itself.

Weight is a symptom too

If you have done the diet and the exercise and the scale has not moved, more willpower is not the missing piece. Something inside your body is working against you.

That can be a thyroid running slow, insulin resistance, shifting sex hormones, a gut out of balance, nutrient gaps or ongoing inflammation. If you want to lose the weight for good, you have to address what is going on inside your body.

What we look at before we prescribe anything

  1. Your story. We spend time on your goals and on what you have already tried.

  2. Your numbers. Testing may include in-depth blood work, body fat percentage and metabolic rate.

  3. Your whole picture. We assess hormonal balance, nutritional deficiencies and gut health, because each one can stall a metabolism.

Dr. Pavilonis reviews your results with you and identifies the imbalances that have kept your metabolism from working as it should.

Where medication fits

When it is clinically indicated, your plan may include a GLP-1 peptide such as semaglutide or tirzepatide, or lipotropic and B12 injections. These are prescribed and monitored under medical supervision, as one part of the plan.

The rest of the plan carries just as much weight: a customized nutrition plan built on fresh food you can buy at any grocery store, enough protein and strength work to protect your muscle, targeted supplements, and hormone support if you need it.

The part most programs skip

Weight often returns when a medication stops and nothing else has changed. That is why our program includes a gradual transition phase, designed to help you hold your results as treatment tapers.

The goal is not a number on a prescription. It is a metabolism that works, and a way of eating you can live with.
